Dale's Field
2003 Summary
Frizzbee players,

This is the annual summary of the awards and stats of our Ultimate "Frizzbee" season for 2003.

Thanks to everyone for another enjoyable season. Special thanks to Tim and Nancy for again hosting the season-ending game at the "Sinking Horse Field" as well as the season- ending party at their home.

As always, thanks also go to Bill, Mr. Enthusiasm, for his weekly announcements, previous game highlights, weather forecasts, and last but certainly not least, weekly pinnie washing. Thanks, Bill!

Here are the 2003 Frizzbee awards, presented at the party by Bill. As per tradition, you must be present to win, as several awards went unclaimed:

2003 TROPHIES AWARDED:

1. The "Bounce Back" trophy was awarded to Ted, for his quick comeback after breaking his collarbone on an all-out dive for the 'bee. The trophy featured a superball with such a bounce that Ted may not have been able to find it at the end of the evening.

2. The "Host" trophy was awarded to Nancy, for her gracious hosting of the end-of-season frizzbee parties. The trophy featured a large fork to acknowledge Nancy's preparedness, given her supply of 4000 plastic forks.

3. The "Rookie of the Year" trophy was awarded to Ben, who played his first game Tuesday 2 weeks before his 6th birthday. Ben even scored a touchdown, and impressed all with his laser-like throws. The trophy featured a baby bottle. Had Ron made the party, he would have been a strong contender for this trophy. Upon finding the sport of ultimate frizzbee, Ron joined up with 3 leagues.

4. The "Good Habit" trophy was awarded to Barb, who is known to double-check whether she's wearing a pinnie or not. With this new trophy clipped to the accompanying visor when she's on the pinnie team, Barb will have a handy reminder without having to tug on her shirt or pinnie.

5. The FART (Frequent Attendance Record Trophy) was awarded to Dale. It's been 5 years (where have we heard this before?) since Dale won his last FART. We all know what this trophy features, and Dale proudly displays -- and exercises - this trophy in his office.

2003 TROPHIES NOT AWARDED:

1. The "No-Show Loser" trophy went unclaimed again. Any ideas as to whom was this meant for, Rich?

2. The "Ambition" trophy for attempting to cut the field with push mowers could have been claimed by Erick or Roger, had they been present. The trophy featured a pair of scissors.

3. Eric M. (the newest Eric) could have walked away with the "Web Trophy" for finding our "frizzbee.com" web site. Eric's spelling must be as bad as Bill's.

2003 RECORDS:

Overall attendance was down this year, so we didn't break many records. But we did set two new records:

1. Ben amazed us by setting a new youngest-player record in the final game. Ben was 2 weeks shy of his 6th birthday!

2. There were only 7 players still at Lucent, and that includes A+ Manufacturing or whatever that's called. Some of us remember the "old days" when we had about 40 players from Lucent (or whatever it was called back then). That number dwindled to the low 20s during the late 1990s and early 2000s, then dropped to 16 in 2002, and then 7 this year. No one dares predict how many next year.
