Dale's Field
2008 Summary
Frizzbee Flickin' Friends,

Thanks for another great season. Our 26th season is in the books, with all statistics in place and trophies awarded. How did we do?

2008 Recap

With Tim under the weather, Jon and Denille stepped in to host the season-ending party. Thanks to J&D, and a speedy recovery to Tim back to full health. Several of us got in a game or two of what Jon might call "schwag" but since it's more like horseshoes with a disc and less like alternative meanings of schwag, I'd call it "horsedisc". After all, there was plenty of horsing around.

Eric set up some of his choicest Ultimate photos on a DVD slideshow, which we ran several times on the big screen. And we all enjoyed watching last year's "Dave's Ultimate Drop" video again.

Bill hosted the traditional trophy presentation, with all kinds of awards like The Claw (Jon), Tacky (Ara), Phantastic Photographer (Eric again, for taking it to a new level), Most Improved (Denille), and the cherished Old Timer (some ancient Armenian guy grabbed it even though he's not anywhere near "old"). And the most coveted trophy of all was accepted by Brian, who tied with Dale for the highest attendance of 2008.

2008 Statistics

New Records:

  • It's hard to set new records after 26 years, but we broke one individual record and set a third-highest team record:
    • Tom Merrick stopped by to push the all-time oldest player record further out of reach. Does anybody else plan to play at age 71? If so, Tom will come back to play, just to make it harder to catch him. Way to go, Tom!
    • We set the third-highest record for the average number of players per game. Somehow, back in 1999, we averaged 16.7 players per game. Last year, we averaged 15.3 players per game. This year, even with just 6 players on June 24 (rain was threatening but it stayed dry), we averaged 14.7 per game.

Notables

  • Bill didn't win the Frequent Attendance Record Trophy (FART), after winning the last 3 years in a row. Slacker!
  • Brian (FART winner), Joe, and Bill had streaks of 10 or more games in a row this year. Brian and Joe began their streaks at the first game, with Joe playing the first 12/12. Bill almost bookended that feat, playing the last 11/11 games.
  • Here are the players with 5 or more games played this year. See if you can beat your numbers next year, and maybe win a trophy!
